Do you often find yourself fixing and repairing things around the house? Are you in need of quality tools that are built to withstand the rigorous test of time? Channellock may just have the right tool for the job!

In 1886, George B. DeArment, who was a blacksmith by trade from Evansburg, Pennsylvania, began selling hand-forged tools to farriers out of the back of his wagon in various towns across the state.  He soon founded his company under the name “Champion Bolt and Clipper Company.” Afterwards, they relocated their manufacturing headquarters to its current location in Meadville, PA in 1904. During the same year, they also added pinchers, nippers, and open-end wrenches to their list of products. The tongue-and-groove, slip-joint pliers that the company is best known for were developed in 1933 by Chief Engineer, Howard Manning. The design was patented a year later and in 1949 the name “Channellock” was trademarked. Years later in 1963, the company changed their name for a third and final time to “Channellock” due to the rise in popularity of its product.

Today, Channellock offers over 120 different types of pliers, with their most famous and popular item still being their tongue-and-groove, slip-joint pliers. They also manufacture cutting pliers, long-nose pliers, screwdrivers, nutdrivers, and adjustable wrenches. The company has also remained family owned and operated since day one, with William S DeArment serving as the current President and CEO.
Whether you’re in heating and air, a lineman, plumber, electrician, mechanic, or just an avid do-it-yourselfer, Channellock is sure to have the right tool to help you get the job done.
