If you enjoy cooking, then you’ve probably heard of Pyrex Glassware, but did you know their products are American made?

The shatterproof glass was originally developed by Corning glass scientists for railroad lanterns, so the lantern wouldn’t crack due to the heat inside of the lamp and the cold air blowing past from outside. In 1913, the glass was already in use in a number of different industrial settings.

But, Pyrex was born when Bessie Littleton’s husband, a Corning scientist, brought her some of the corning glass to replace a broken casserole dish. The glass worked wonders in the kitchen!

Today, Pyrex is commonly used by cooks and bakers all across the US, and has been for many generations. It’s known for being perfect for baking as it’s oven safe, easy to clean, and they Pyrex doesn’t hold odors or stains!

A proud American brand, Pyrex is distributed worldwide and has always been manufactured in Pennsylvania. Learn more about Pyrex here, and let us know what you think of this U.S. brand, or ones similar, in the comments below.
