Founded in 1912 by Leon Leonwood Bean, L.L. Bean apparel started its legacy in Maine. In the same location of their first store in 1917, now stands a 200,000 square foot location that’s open 24 hours a day, 365 days a week! The number of regular year round employees nears 5,000, and during the holiday season, it rises to close to 9,500!

L.L. Bean ventured out of Maine for the first time in the U.S. with a retail store in Virginia in 2000. There are now over 80 international retails stores, as well as catalogs being sent to more than 160 countries.

With a big importance placed on customer service and social media, L.L. Bean has proven to be dedicated to customers not only with their products, but their service. “I do not consider a sale complete until the goods are worn out and customer still satisfied” – L.L. Bean.

Their manufacturing facilities are located in Brunswick and Lewiston, Maine, where over 350 employees work year round to produce iconic products like the L.L. Bean Boot, the Boat and Tote Bag, and the Maine Hunting Shoe.
