Fed by Threads

by Friday, December 12, 2014

Jade Beall and Alok Appadurai in Tucson, Arizona founded Fed by Threads with the simple idea to make clothes for their dance studio. It quickly escalated into a social entrepreneurship project where they now feed thousands of Americans and influence social change through their clothing line.

When they began, Alok and Jade decided to make a community shirt for their dance studio in downtown Tucson. At the same time they learned some disturbing statistics about the problem of hunger in America and how many of our neighbors are suffering daily from this issue. Providing food is a great way to donate, but food banks still need resources to cover the cost of labor, warehouses, and trucks to move the food. So they decided to give back through their new company. Each time they sell a shirt, the Fed By Threads donates $1 to their local food bank, covering the cost of 4 meals, and $1 to Feeding America, covering the cost for 8 emergency meals, totaling 12 meals for one item sold.

Fed by Threads also uses only U.S. manufacturing, labor, sustainable fabrics, soy ink and biodegradable/compostable packaging. From the threads of the shirt, to the final hand-printed product by locals in town, they are conscious of their community and environment. The mission of Fed by Threads is to inspire change and offer alternatives to the conventional shopping experience.

Support a company that started from humble beginnings and builds a product through American manufacturing and local sourcing. Buy some Fed by Threads clothing today and feed hungry neighbors while you are at it!

Hey this is somewhat of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use
WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML.

I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding skills so
I wanted to get advice from someone with experience.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

We do our HTML coding by hand usually. The platform we use does have a WYSIWYG editor but it is always good to go over the code yourself just to double check! You can find lots of great HTML references just by googling! You don’t need a lot. How to make a list, insert a link, and change the size of the font are a great place to start Good luck and just start blogging! It is ok to make mistakes – have fun!
